Iranian Journal of Applied Linguistics
IJAL, a professional, refereed journal, publishes articles on all aspects of Applied Linguistics, in particular topics of significance to individuals concerned with the teaching of EFL/ESL. IJAL invites manuscripts on topics in curriculum design and development, teaching and research methodology, testing and evaluation, discourse analysis, and the like.
IJAL is a refereed journal, which is published twice a year by Teacher Training University Press. The primary aim of the journal is to fulfill the need for a publication forum devoted to the discussion of topics and issues in Applied Linguistics and TEFL in the region. To this end, studies on all aspects of applied linguistics will be considered for publication in IJAL; however, preference will be given to empirical studies in TEFL.
Contributors are invited to send two copies of their manuscripts, written in English, to the Research Institute of Foreign Languages, Teacher Training University, 49 Moffateh Avenue,Tehran, Iran, or alternatively submit their manuscripts electronically to: mhkeshavarz@yahoo.com.
The editorial will reserve the right to accept or reject manuscripts and to make all editorial changes as deemed necessary.

Guide for Contributors
Editorial Policy
IJAL publishes original research articles in different areas of Applied Linguistics; however, preference is given to papers related to research on second or foreign language teaching and learning. Articles displaying an interdisciplinary perspective are also welcome. All articles submitted for publication will be blind reviewed. Submission of a manuscript is taken to mean that it is an original work of the author(s) which has not been published elsewhere.
Submission Requirements
Two copies of manuscripts in double-spaced typescript should be submitted. Manuscripts should be typed on good quality A4 paper with generous margins on all sides. They should be written one side of the paper only and double-spacing should be used throughout including notes, appendices, and references. Submissions should have a separate title page with the author(s)’ name(s), their affiliations, and their complete postal and e-mail addresses. The first page of the manuscript should carry the title of the article without the name(s) of the author(s). Articles must be accompanied by an abstract, on a separate sheet, of about 200 words. Authors are requested to provide up to six key words, to appear just underneath the abstract. Either British or American spelling is satisfactory, provided that it is used consistently throughout the manuscript. Electronic contributions are also welcome.
When a paper has been refereed, revised if necessary, and accepted, a floppy disk containing the final proofread version of the manuscript together with a final hard copy should be sent to the editor. The texts on the floppy disk and the hard copy must match exactly. Authors are requested to follow the style sheet of the American Psychological Association and use Micro-Soft Word to prepare their manuscripts.
Contributors will receive two complimentary copies of IJAL.
General Submission Guidelines
Notes
· Minimize the number of notes.
· Begin the notes on a new page right after the final section of the main text.
· The first note should be the acknowledgement.
References
· Citations in the text should be indicated by giving the author(s)’ name(s), the year of publication, and with page number(s) where necessary, e.g. Hymes (1978, p. 25).
· All works cited should appear in the ‘References’ section which begins on a new page following the endnotes. References to more than one publication by an author in the same year should be distinguished alphabetically with small letters, for example, Widdowson (1995a). Journal and Book titles must be italicized. References should be listed as follows:
